Coolify vs Hostim: the numbers

Self-hosted on your own server against a managed platform, priced at August 2026 rates.

€2.50/month

Hostim entry app plan

Plan sa-1-1: 1 vCPU, 1 GB RAM. Nothing else to rent — the platform is the price.

€5.99/month

Cheapest server that runs Coolify well

Hetzner CX23 (2 vCPU, 4 GB) at €5.49 plus €0.50 for the IPv4 address. Coolify itself is free.

+144%

Hetzner CPX22 price change, 15 June 2026

€7.99 to €19.49 per month. Self-hosting moves your cost risk from a platform to a hardware supplier.

€0

Managed database free tier

PostgreSQL 256 MB, MySQL 256 MB, Redis 128 MB, volume 1 GB. No cap on how many free instances you create.

Included on every plan

Database high availability

PostgreSQL and MySQL run as a primary plus hot standby with automatic failover, shared plans included.

Unlimited apps per box

Where Coolify wins

One server runs as many containers as it fits, at a fixed price, with root access and no per-app fee.

And every time, something goes wrong – ports left open, SSL renewal fails, or a config breaks after an update.

Frequently asked questions

Is Hostim a managed Coolify alternative?

Yes. Both deploy Docker apps from a dashboard, but Coolify runs on a VPS you manage. Hostim runs the cluster, the OS updates, the security patches and the backups for you. The deploy experience is similar; the operations work is not.

How does Hostim pricing compare to running Coolify on a VPS?

Coolify itself is free but you pay for the VPS (€5–20/month) and absorb the operations. Hostim apps start at €2.50/month with a free database tier — for one small app the cost is roughly equal, without VPS upkeep.

Does Hostim accept Docker Compose files?

Yes. Paste a Compose YAML and Hostim creates the apps, databases and volumes from it. Coolify supports Compose too, but only on the VPS you operate.

Where is Hostim hosted?

On bare-metal servers in Germany. With Coolify, the host is whatever VPS you choose — keeping data in the EU is up to you.

Does Hostim include managed databases?

Yes. PostgreSQL, MySQL and Redis are managed services with backups. On Coolify they run as containers on your VPS, and backups are your responsibility.
